Microsoft’s next Surface laptops will reportedly be its first true ‘AI PCs’
Microsoft is preparing to add new AI-enabled capabilities to
its Surface series, according to a Windows Central story. The site has been
told by unnamed sources that the next-generation Neural Processing Unit (NPU),
in addition to the Intel and Arm-based choices, will be included in the next
Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6.
According to Windows Central, Microsoft's Arm-based devices will be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon X CPUs. These computers,
code-named CADMUS, will be built to run AI capabilities that Microsoft
plans to include in the next version of Windows. According to Windows Central,
they will also include performance, battery life, and security improvements
comparable to Apple technology. New 14th-generation CPUs from the firm are
expected to be included in the Intel version of the gadgets.
The Surface Pro 10 is expected to have improved internals as
well as a brighter, HDR-compatible display with an anti-glare coating and a
resolution choice of 2160 x 1440 or 2880 x 1920. According to Windows Central,
it may even feature rounded edges. , much like the Microsoft Surface Laptop
Studio range, and supports a redesigned Type Cover with a button that launches
Windows Copilot.
Regarding the Surface Laptop 6, Windows Central notes that
the 15-inch model will remain the same size while the smaller variant will have
a slightly larger 13.8-inch display (up from the 13.5-inch display on the
Surface Laptop 5). The gadget is said to have a rounder display with smaller
bezels like the Surface Pro 10. According to Windows Central, it might have a
few more ports, like two USB-C, one USB-A, and one for Surface Connect.
Charging. The gadget is also rumored to have a haptic touchpad and a Windows
Copilot-specific keyboard button.
Next year, Microsoft is expected to unveil the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6. However, Windows Central claims that a new, updated Surface Laptop Studio and a more significant redesign of the Surface Pro could be on the horizon for 2025.
